MD2 Expands Concierge Medicine Footprint with New Location at 5425 Wisconsin Avenue

A concierge medicine practice with dozens of offices across the country is preparing to open its second Greater Washington location in Chevy Chase, Maryland — and keeping its eye out for more expansion opportunities in the region.

The Bellevue, Washington-based MD2 International LLC is building out a 3,884-square-foot space at 5425 Wisconsin Ave. slated to open in December. CCLC, which recently rebranded from the Chevy Chase Land Co., owns that building, known as The Collection.

The 30-year-old MD2, pronounced “M.D. squared,” has a network of 39 physician-owned primary care practices across 15 U.S. markets including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Seattle and Dallas. The membership fee-based service reflects a growing trend often seen in affluent metro areas, built for residents able and willing to pay a premium for their health care — in the case of MD2, $30,000 a year.

The company opened the McLean site in 2018, but is familiar with the local population beyond that one office because it already has patients in the market who travel and visit its other practices, said Charlie Severn, its chief marketing officer.

“Opening in Chevy Chase allows us to serve these families closer to home and meet growing regional interest in personalized medicine,” he said.

The trophy-class office building was a good fit for MD2 because it’s comfortable and convenient, and “feels nothing like a typical medical office,” Dr. Ida Bergstrom, one of the practice’s two primary care doctors, said in a statement.

The building has amenities including a concierge, conference center, fitness center, tenant lounge with arcade games and golf simulator, as well as parking. It’s next to the Friendship Heights Metro station.
