Sarah’s Handmade Ice Cream, a locally owned and operated chain, plans to open its fourth location this winter with a new shop in Chevy Chase, according to co-owner Annie Park.

Park, who owns and runs the business with her mother Sarah, told Bethesda Today last week the shop at 8551 Connecticut Ave. is finalizing renovations and construction and hopes to hold a soft opening at the end of February. Park said a grand opening is anticipated for early April.

“My mom and I are really excited to be expanding in Montgomery County because this is where I grew up and we consider this our home base,” said Park, who lives in Bethesda. “So many of our neighbors who’ve seen our growth from the very beginning are excited to support another shop opening near where they live.”

Sarah’s Handmade Ice Cream is a traditional ice cream parlor featuring more than 40 different flavors with classic flavors such as Coffee Oreo and Blueberry Swirl, or seasonal options including Burnt Caramel Hazelnut Biscoff and Thai Iced Tea. The ice cream is sold by the scoop, in pints or in flights, but milkshakes, sundaes, ice cream sandwiches, floats, ice cream cakes and Pup Cups for dogs are also offered, according to the menu.

Chevy Chase Lake is also home to eateries Elena James, Ro Sushi Co., Playa Bowls and will soon welcome a new Italian restaurant, Osteria Divina.

The ice cream shop will feature indoor and outdoor seating and freezers stocked with products available for purchase. Park told Bethesda Today she was excited by the new location because the development boasts a large central plaza where customers can enjoy their ice cream.
